“Hey what do you do?”
“I’m a writer, I own a Daily cum Travel Blog”
“Nice, and do you make enough money from that?”
“It’s a nice sunny morning, isn’t it?”
Hello lovely readers! Must be wondering what the above conversation is all about? This morning while I was heading to the market to get myself some milk and bread, I came across an old acquaintance who had this conversation with me. Now, you know where this came from?
While I was having breakfast, I was thinking about it again and I wondered why this was weird. Surely, I didn’t want to explain to her how much I earn from blogging, whether I earn or not at all? Not a big deal though, but the fact that I was re-thinking about this entire conversation is what made me kind of write today’s blog.
If you have been reading my blogs regularly, you know that I like to keep it very transparent and open when it comes to sharing things. I like to throw it on the table as it is.
Not that it’s easy, let me try and bring out the confessions of a blogger – Let’s go!
- Most of us are introverts
If I don’t know you, don’t expect me to start a conversation. I hardly do that unless I am bored to death. But once I know you, there’s no stopping me. Am I an introvert? If I am, I think most of my blogger friends are introverts. I guess it’s easy to sit behind a computer screen and let our thoughts flow. I mean I find it really weird to reach out to and strike up a conversation with a complete stranger. Since the time I have started blogging, I know I am not the only one.
- Working for free
Okay so when I started blogging, I remember spending hours in Starbucks with endless shots and of course endless stories of successful bloggers. I tried to understand how it works. This is when I realised that it takes an awfully long time for a blog to start earning. The reason why I went ahead with blogging is due to my passion to write and of course because I have a full-time job. I decided and was sure of not expecting any monetary benefits. I just wanted to write. And read. And learn. And be more creative! That’s it and it’s been almost 2.5months now, still have a long long journey to go.
- Time Management
I must admit that before I started blogging, I may be, did not realize the importance of time. I had been working full-time since past 4 years and I never found “the time” to do anything else in life other than my office work and the general house hold chores. Since the time I have started blogging, many people have been asking me how do I manage a daily blog with a real full time job. I guess it’s the passion which makes people do such crazy stuff. My passion for writing carves its way through the hectic schedule and I make sure to devote at least 2-3 hours of my time to blogging every single day, mostly during late night. As they say, where there’s a will, there’s a way! True that.
To cut the long story short, the most important reason behind my blogging website is that I don’t want to feel like I am living just to pay my bills. I want to make an impact, I want to enjoy my work, I want to do something which makes me happy, I want to do something where I am my own boss, I want to do something creative every single day and I want to create memories. Can you relate with me?
