I’m currently in a long-distance relationship. Past six months have been full of those boring weekends, sleepless nights and several tests of patience. They say long-distance is not easy, agreed! But for me, love is not just the happiness and security, it’s also sacrifice and strength. After all the struggle, when you feel it’s worth the wait, everything seems okay. That’s love!
If you’re in a long-distance relationship too just like me, you will know what I mean.
I visited him for our second wedding anniversary in October last year. It was magical but good times end soon. Here we are struggling through the distance again since then, it’s been 3 and a half months now since the last time we saw each other. Since he will be visiting me in the last week of this month, I am super super excited! As I have been acting little crazy since we are meeting now, I thought of penning down my thoughts for many people might be able to relate to me.
Distance gives us a reason to love harder.
- Calendar Calendar
Since the time his flight tickets have been booked, the first thing I do in the morning is striking off the days in the calendar. Yes, literally! I do this every single day.
- Days seem longer
I found myself checking the time on my cell phone n number of times a day, and I wonder why the time is moving so slow.
- All those “What-Ifs”
Anticipating all the possibilities, mostly negative, keeping running through my mind all the time.
You don’t want to lose a chance of shopping for the perfect dresses and shoes because you are going to meet after so long and you want to look your best! Plus, shopping helps relieve all the stress too, gives us a reason too!
- Imagining the changes
Your long-distance partner probably has gained or lost some kilos or may be changed their hairstyles. After meeting for so long, you can’t help but notice all those little changes since you last met.
- Nothing has changed
The proudest moment in a long-distance relationship is realizing that you have stayed apart for the longest time and when you meet again and hug, you find that nothing has changed.
I strongly believe that a long-distance relationship doesn’t only make you more patient of each other but you tend to grow closer than ever before because of the distance.
Miles and Miles between us.
Long waits between the visits.
Poor internet connection.
But you’re completely worth it!
