HOLAAAA my lovely readers!
The existence of throughmymind is based on my intention to help people around and for my readers to benefit from my experiences and avoid the mistakes which a first-timer would typically do. Hopefully, this would be of some help to you all.
7 in the evening and we were in the most complicated situation in the whole round world!! We were trying to figure out what to do for the next 4 holidays. Me and my best friend, Tanu, yes, we worked at the same place then, post an hour-long discussion and figuring out the possibilities, we decided to go to Rishikesh, India.
It was such a random, spontaneous decision and just the two of us. So, right there and then, we booked our bus tickets from Delhi to Rishikesh. And trust me guys, if you are in Delhi and are looking for a weekend getaway to relax after all those tiring days at work, Rishikesh can be the one of the best suited destinations for you. And in case you are looking forward to indulge in some adventure sport or may be trek around for a while, you can do all of that in Rishikesh as well. Well, this time around, we didn’t want to get involved in any of the hectic activities, rather we chose to sit back, relax and eat.
We booked our bus tickets from Redbus.in and found some really comfortable sleeper seats for around 900INR each which was completely worth the travel time and the comfort. It took us around 7hours to reach Rishikesh. The bus was in time and we reached Rishikesh by 6 in the evening. This was when we realised our biggest mistake which was not to book any hotels beforehand. Since it was the peak season, all the hotels were occupied. Two hours and we were still looking for a place to check in. Now, it started getting scarier. At last, we reached a hotel and found an Italian couple checking out. We were so happy and thanked them too! Since this was more of a relaxing trip for us, here’s the list of the things which we did.
This is one thing which we indulged in the most. We ate and ate more! Guys, there are a lot of cafes in Rishikesh and we explored a lot, like literally! Little Buddha Café, Holy Boly Café and Rudraa Café were some of our favourites there. You get a really nice Ganga river view while sitting at the Buddha Café while you can read a book or may be listen to some music and relax for hours. Do not miss the Ferrero-Rocher Shake and the pizzas while at Little Buddha Café. We absolutely loved the breakfast menu at the Rudra Café and I would highly recommend trying it at least once.
- Yoga & Meditation
Not that I am a “Yoga” person, but to be honest every time in Rishikesh, when I woke up in the morning and saw the sun-rise besides the Ganga beach, I actually felt motivated to get involved in some Yoga and Meditation too. Since Rishikesh is full of ashrams & temples, one feels motivated to indulge in sort of spiritual activities or may be some Yoga. In fact, there are a lot of practitioners there who provide classes near the Ganga river. Both of us used to wake up early, no matter what time of the morning were we going to sleep and indulge in some Meditation.
- Chilling besides the Ganges
Do you like to sit by the beach and play around with the sand? I know the feeling! It’s A-MAZING! Right? Soak your feet in the cold water, listen to the sound of the water, away from the troubles of the world! I think all of us should take some time out and do this. With the hectic life schedule these days, we need it guys! Tanu and I used to sit like this for hours while in Rishikesh, doing nothing but just connecting with the nature.
Apart from all of the above, there is a lot of adventure sport activities in Rishikesh and you may want to try river rafting, kayaking, bunjee jumping, hiking, zip lining, trekking and camping. Yes, I have tried some of these, not during this trip though. I will surely share some titbits from the other trips as well in my other blogs.
For all my Indian readers, I am sure you must be looking forward to the last weekend of this month since it is an extended one. So, if you don’t have plans other than netflix and sleeping at home, you might want to go on a trip to Rishikesh and have a really chilled out time! Although spontaneous is fun but I would suggest “DO NOT FORGET TO MAKE ALL THE BOOKINGS IN ADVANCE” to avoid messing around!
