Hello Lovely People!!
December!! A month full of celebrations and happiness. I look forward to this month of the year every year. Every neighborhood covered in bright and colorful Christmas lights – Something which brings positivity all around. I grew up loving decorations and lights and energy around. New Year 2018 was although not that exciting for me and you’ll know why!
With all the festivity, almost everyone around looks forward to amazing new times ahead and improving upon all the weaknesses. 2017 was no different too. Duh? Does this happen to you? Do you make a list of all those fancy new year resolutions and end up following the previous year?
Guess what? I never believed in New Year Resolutions. Why a resolution on the first day of the year? Why not something whenever you feel the need to make a change? Why not every time you feel that you have figured out your weakness and want to get over it? I have known friends and close acquaintances making a list of all the things they want to change about themselves. Someone wants to hit the gym regularly, someone wants to quit smoking and there are people who want to travel more this year. Making resolutions for yourself is like awesome but what do you do with a failed resolution? Why would you want to make a resolution every new year knowing that it would fail? Let’s figure out the reasons behind failed resolutions. In my opinion, there are two primary reasons behind the failure of resolutions –
Setting goals which are impractical to achieve might be one reason why resolutions fail. For instance, I will not smoke a single cigarette and am a chain smoker at the same time. Common boss! Do you think this was even attainable? When you cannot even poop without having that puff!!!
- Lack of Willpower
Another strong reason is when the person lacks the dedication and willpower to actually go get towards the goal. This discipline, in my opinion is the key. When you have the strength to get over your capacity to resist, it is when you are almost there! You want to go on a run the first thing you do in the morning; did you try and sleep early the previous night? Did you set the morning alarm on time? Did you motivate yourself enough to learn that you actually want to stay fit and that running would be that one way how you can actually achieve this.
I set small goals for myself instead of dreaming high on the New Year’s party! I would say that I never set my resolutions too big, rather I set the more practical and reasonable ones. Having said that, I never said that I get through all those little practical resolutions which I set for myself. I fail and I learn. I repeat this because I want to improve. I really do!! YES, I don’t give up easily on anything and the reason why I never stop making resolutions for myself even after so many failed ones. I believe in trying over and again and the fact that nothing is or can ever be perfect.
It’s 1 at night, too cold despite the two coffee shots which I had while writing. Before I set my Daily alarm for tomorrow, I want to thank you guys again for being a part of my throughmymind family! HOLAAA!!!
